We continue our commitment to bridging socioeconomic divides in 2024 by running two community outreach programs in Forsyth County:
Farm Fresh NOURISH! & H.O.P.E. Outreach
Harmony Ridge (and other area farms) partner with Second Harvest Food Bank on Farm Fresh HOURISH!
The basics of the NOURISH! program are as follows:
• We deliver a set number of produce shares to partner pantries each week for 12 weeks over the course of the main harvest season. Each produce share contains 6-8 different fruits or vegetables. Second Harvest covers the cost of these shares at a fair market price.
• The partner pantry distributes one produce share per household that self-identifies as having someone with prediabetes, diabetes, or heart-related issues.
• Participants are offered recipes and nutrition education from Second Harvest to go along with their produce shares. They are also asked to be surveyed about their fruit and vegetable purchasing and consumption habits.
The H.O.P.E. Outreach Program is a partnership of the H.O.P.E. Foundation of W-S and Harmony Ridge Farms. We provide around 80 weekly produce shares through the main harvest season for qualifying low-income families with children. 2024 will mark our fourth year running this program alongside Scott and Salem at H.O.P.E.
In 2023, we distributed upwards of 25,000 lbs of produce through H.O.P.E. and Second Harvest combined. That number will grow closer to 30,000 in 2024. We are proud to be able to reach so many families in such an impactful way.
